If learning about all the new stuff still hasn't made you excited about Xbox Madden 10, then maybe a visit to video gaming's not-so-distant past can put things into perspective. On one hand, it's probably not too cool to say Xbox Madden 10 is great, just because it stands out next to crap from 30 years ago. But it helps to see how much progress has been made in football video games, by taking a glance at the earliest video games and comparing them to Xbox Madden 10. From day one, football video games were what the original hardcore gamers wanted, back when the video game consoles were taking their first "baby steps" in the world. The bad news, though, was that video game technology was still in the "post-Pong" phase, and the games reflected those limitations. Even then, the game companies were excellent at the hype, and kept boasting that this one boasted "all the excitement" of real football. The characters on the gridiron are more suited to a sci-fi shooter than a football video game. Just needed to get that one off my chest. The photo may be underwhelming, but the game itself is even more so. From a technological standpoint, things were so basic, that multiple players moving at once meant that the only thing extreme about this game was the flickering of the players. Sound effects didn't fare much better, with the "spectators" sounding more like a car with a busted muffler. Again, things like the scrolling screen wouldn't be a required part of any game for a while yet. In a short matter of time, the competitors entered the video game console field, and brought out their take on a more realistic football video game. They definitely took the ball and ran with this one, giving gamers better gameplay, visuals, and sound. It wasn't there yet, though. Hardcore gamers were pretty excited by that one, as it really heralded the beginning of sports video games - but it was still just an early entry in the field. Several years would pass before that came to pass. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. If you were to ask a gamer from the 90s what their favorite sports video game was, this one would crack the top 5 list.
Can't argue with the fact that the hardcore gamers did take to this one - for the first time, the NFL got the red-carpet treatment from a football video game. It was an amazing evolution in football video games, and this one was really a major turning point. With the online revival, today's gamers are getting a taste of yesteryear - and loving it. However, it doesn't even come close to what Xbox Madden 10 offers.
With the great strides in gaming, football video games have reached a level worthy of the fans. We've had a few chuckles, but mocking less advanced video games isn't a productive use of our time. We think you understand. You have to start somewhere, and those other games did - and Xbox Madden 10 would have never been possible if it weren't for those older football video games. Of course, Xbox Madden 10 has really kicked this one over the goal posts, which has the video game world pretty pleased. The fans aren't the only ones raving about Xbox Madden 10 - the critics have said their piece, and they're into it. Xbox Madden 10 reviews tend to feature statements such as "realistic and enjoyable." EA Sports didn't even come close to fumbling the ball with Xbox Madden 10, that's for sure.
There are always going to be the haters, but pay no attention - Xbox Madden 10 rules. Xbox Madden 10 isn't just a great Xbox sports video game - it's an all-around great Xbox video game. It's the favorite of hardcore gamers, and with good cause. More than just a great game, it's a chance to display your video game excellence, when you clash for cash.
It's a great time to be an Xbox Madden 10 expert - now you can slug it out for some real money. Once you've reached your apex of acumen, you'll be the one scoring big - and filling up your wallet in the process.
